So, You're Moving to Nova Scotia! Congratulations!
So, you're moving to Nova Scotia . . . .congratulations . . . . . it was one of the best decisions I ever made! Maybe it will be for you too.
First, a little about me. I'm a transplanted prairie girl from Manitoba, and I've lived in (ahem) five different places since I came here, just over 14 years ago. Yes, that's a lot of moving, but there were reasons . . . . renovations, restorations, really bad neighbours, and sadly, the death of my husband. Anyways, I've seen a lot of Nova Scotia over the years, and now there's no way I'd ever leave.
But let me say this, about that. Nova Scotia is my absolute dream home, but if you're considering moving, go into it with eyes wide open, because, honestly it isn't for everyone, but for some, its everything. And that's why I started this blog. To answer questions, make recommendations, tell you how to pronounce words like Kejimkujik and Musquodoboit, and share same good - and bad truths. (Like the fact that I really don't like lobster. What kind of a Nova Scotian doesn't like . . . . . well, never mind.)
I have a few confessions, too (besides the lobster thing), like the fact that I left my winter coats in Manitoba because I didn't think I'd need them here. WRONG. Ditto, winter boots. The block heater in the car, you can ditch. Unless you're going to Cape Breton.
The picture above is Granville Ferry, taken from the other side of the Annapolis River, on the shore in Annapolis Royal.
Talk soon!
Maggie
PS: KEH-jim-KU-jik will get you by, as will MUS-ko-DOB-it.
